Jo Ann Withers was born Jo Ann White in Austin, Texas on May 13, 1958.
She graduated cum laude from Texas Tech University in Lubbock,
Texas with a BA in mathematics in 1980. After 10 years of service in
the Air Force as a statistical analyst and applications programmer,
she left the military and began pursuing her masters degree in
computer science.
Her research interests include the analysis
and design of new techniques to solve computational problems.
Jo Ann is married to Michael Carl Withers and they are the parents of
twins Ian and Patrick, now five.
