Four Types of Chaotic Dynamics
in Cellular Flames
Theoretical Studies
There are two principal models of cellular flames: the thermodiffusive
model
in which the instability occurs because of a competition between mass diffusivity
and thermal diffusivity; and the hydrodynamical model in which the instability occurs
because of the interaction of the flame with the hydrodynamic disturbances that it
generates (for reviews, see Williams, 1985 and Clavin. 1985).
