Subject: CS 4853 Assignment 1 and notes

First, for those of you not in class today, the new notes on statistics
require a users name and password. ...

For assignment 1, I was confused when students came to me asking about
joining each thread before creating another.  Then I realized that the
assignment in the chapter of the book I handed out said to do this.
Of course, you get not chance of any parallelism if you join each thread
before starting the next one.  The last line of Item 1. should have said,
wait for all threads to complete after all theads have been created.

Please make this change in the description of the assignment.  Because of this
change, you can hand in the assignment on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
