Read pages 170-178 (Section 4.2) of Tanenbaum
- The microcontroller has the following instruction cycle:
- Subcycle 1: Load MIR
- Subcycle 4: Load MPC
- The machine is controlled in the following:
- Subcycle 1: Load MIR
- Subcycle 2: A and B latches activated
- Subcycle 3: MAR activated
- Subcycle 4: Register scratch pad stores value (if ENC).
Load MPC
- Discuss branching in the microprogram.
- Begin writing microinstructions.
