September 1, 1999

Administrative:

Material:

In this class we will be going through a design exercise in order to see how object-oriented design is done. The problem we are considering is an order of magnitude more complex than anything we might code.

Design Problem: Design an elevator (from a software viewpoint).

Final question: Why do object-oriented programmers have trouble falling asleep at night?

Lecture Objective: To develop an overall sense of what the object-oriented design process is.
NOTE: The objective is NOT for you to be able to do object-oriented design.
